Coffee with cream - calories, recipes, benefits and harms

Listing all the types and names of coffee is not an easy task: many drinks are prepared from coffee beans, and many peoples have their own traditional recipes.

Some brewing methods have been known for a long time in Eastern and African countries. A significant part of the recipes owes its origin to Italy, the trendsetter of coffee fashion.

Coffee-based drinks differ in additional ingredients, their proportions and mixing methods. In some, strong and aromatic espresso plays the leading role, in others, which are milder in taste, milk predominates. Coffee fans know the difference between a latte and a cappuccino and espresso, and a doppio from a lungo. And novice gourmets need to get acquainted with the basic cooking options so as not to get confused when studying the menu in a coffee shop.

Calorie content of coffee with cream

Coffee is not a high-calorie product, but when dairy products and sugar are added, the calorie content increases dramatically. Therefore, you must be aware of how the fat content of cream and its volume affect the energy value of the drink.

Calories are calculated for 150 ml coffee with the addition of 15 ml of cream. Drink without sugar.

Cream fat contentEnergy value of cream (per 100 g)Energy value of coffee with cream (without sugar)

15%160 kcal27 kcal
20%205 kcal34 kcal
30%293 kcal47 kcal
35%335 kcal53 kcal

Which cream to choose: liquid or from a can

When choosing coffee creamer, first of all, you should pay attention to its fat content. On store shelves you can find cream with fat content from 9% to 60%.

Ten percent cream is best for coffee, but if you want to whip it, the best fat content is 35-40%

Be sure to read the ingredients. It is best to use a natural product, which is not always easy to find. There should be no vegetable fats or milk powder in the composition. You cannot buy cream that is in the freezer or on a regular shelf.

Cream from a can will help you make coffee with cream quickly and easily; supermarkets always have it in stock. But if you want to make a drink from the most natural ingredients, use fresh liquid cream with suitable fat content and a short shelf life.

How to brew coffee with cream in a Turk?

Coffee brewed in a Turkish coffee pot can not only give you energy in the morning, but also a good mood. The aroma and excellent taste of coffee brewed in a Turk with cream is almost impossible to resist. However, some people brew it incorrectly, which leads to the loss of certain taste qualities of the drink. It is also worth noting that filtered water always makes the taste more “clean”. In addition, it is better to prepare finely ground coffee in a Turk, since in this case the foam rises faster and it gives all its best qualities to the water.

Ingredients:

– finely ground coffee – 2 teaspoons; — liquid cream – 20 ml; - whipped cream - 1 tbsp. spoon; – water – 150 ml; - sugar - to taste.

Cooking method:

This set of ingredients will be needed to prepare a soft, delicate and very tasty drink. So, how to brew Turkish coffee with cream? First, heat the ground coffee in a Turk. Now, using a filter, we filter the water and only then pour it into the Turk. Then we wait for the first boil. We do not remove the Turk from the heat and wait for the second boil; if desired, you can wait for the third boil. Remove from heat.

After this, we add liquid cream to our aromatic coffee, the amount at our own discretion (the more, the softer the taste of the coffee). If you like sweet drinks, then you can add sugar to the cup (the amount to your taste). To give coffee with cream a complete look, squeeze out a little whipped cream from the aerosol. It is best to squeeze them out when the drink has cooled a little or just before serving, as the cream can quickly “fall off”.

Thanks to its characteristic creamy taste, this coffee can be served with a piece of delicious Napoleon, cottage cheese cakes, chocolates or cookies. Before serving Turkish coffee, it is recommended to pour boiling water into the cups to warm them up.

Ingredients for making con panna

100% Arabica beans are best for making con panna. However, there is no need for expensive single-origin varieties, since cream will still hide the subtle notes of coffee flavor. Indian Arabica, which has chocolate notes, goes well with cream.

Robusta is often included in espresso blends: it produces a stable foam. Fans of strong coffee are not forbidden to prepare the base for con panna from blends containing up to 20% robusta. But its bitterness stands out too clearly against the background of sweet cream.

Cream will simply “overwhelm” the taste of light roasted coffee. The Viennese roast is ideal for con panna. The combination of cream with darker roasted coffee is not for everyone. The beans are ground to a fine espresso grind or slightly coarser (but finer than average).

Water should be moderately soft, non-chlorinated. Bottled water with mineralization from 75 to 250 mg/l is suitable.

For coffee con panna, it is better to use natural cream with a fat content of 33–35% (with a lower fat content, it will not whip into a stiff foam). If you have a choice, it is advisable to take thinner cream rather than thick cream like sour cream. Sometimes, to save time, coffee is decorated with vegetable cream from a container, but their taste is worse than natural ones.

Black coffee with cream and protein cream

Strong, finely ground coffee, diluted with cream and protein cream, has a very interesting and slightly unusual taste. Many people are accustomed to coffee or coffee drinks with aerosol cream, but this recipe uses liquid cream and a very delicate cream that looks like a weightless cloud. I suggest you try this drink. You will definitely like it!

Ingredients:

— finely ground coffee — 1 heaped teaspoon; - white of 1 chicken egg; - a pinch of citric acid; - sugar - 2 teaspoons (for cream), and if you like sweet coffee, then another 1-2 tablespoons; - cream - 10 ml.

Cooking method:

Let's start. This coffee is quite easy to prepare. You can brew it in several ways: in a pot or directly in a cup. I chose the second method. Pour the required amount of freshly ground coffee into a cup (both pure Robusta variety and its mixture with Arabica, etc. are suitable), pour in a small amount of boiling water. And after 5 minutes add the required amount of water. While the coffee is brewing, you need to start preparing the protein cream. By the way, it can also be prepared in two ways - by hand or in a food processor. I decided not to turn on the processor for 1 egg white, so I beat it with sugar by hand for about 5 minutes. During the whipping process, I added a pinch of citric acid to the protein, which turned out to be a very tasty cream with a slight sourness. Let's get back to coffee. Pour cream into it. And spoon the whipped white cream on top. Garnish with chocolate chips or ground cinnamon. Black coffee with cream and protein cream is ready! It can be served as a standalone drink or with additives in the form of biscotti, sweets, croissants and other delicacies that are so pleasant to enjoy in the morning.

With milk

The combination with milk is softer and more delicate. And based on these two ingredients, you can create a hundred variations both for those with a sweet tooth and for lovers of true classics.

Macchiato

Macchiato tops the menu of every self-respecting coffee shop. Easy to prepare. The barista mixes one shot of espresso with steamed milk.

A properly prepared macchiato leaves a foam on top with a height of 0.3 to 0.5 mm. The ratio of espresso and frothed milk is 1:0.4.

Standard

This is a simple recipe that, without being a professional barista, anyone can prepare at home. Very often this is passed off as a latte. In Poland it is called kawa biala or simply white. In Australia it is called Melange.

To prepare, a cup of espresso is brewed, which is diluted with warm milk in the most pleasant ratio for everyone.

Those who like strong drinks are content with a few teaspoons of milk. Others may use different proportions. Sweetness (sugar or honey) can be added if desired.

Cappuccino

Prepared on the basis of standard espresso mixed with foamed milk. It got its name from the word “capuchin”. This was the name given to the monks in red-brown robes who belonged to the Capuchin order.

For proper serving, you need to warm up the cup in advance. Prepared in standard quantities from 150 to 180 ml. The ratio of milk, espresso and milk froth is 1:1.

To attract customers, some coffee shops try to decorate cappuccino with chocolate chips, as well as modify its taste with the help of various syrups.

Latte

Light and invigorating. Made from espresso with foamed milk foam. The standard cup volume is 240-250 ml.

One pre-prepared shot of espresso from finely ground beans is added to a glass of this volume. It is poured with warm milk combined with whipped milk foam. Its thickness should be from 12 to 15 mm.

Unlike a cappuccino, which has two layers, a latte has three layers: foam, milk, and thick espresso.

This is a classic latte recipe, which involves a combination of espresso, milk component and foam in a 1:1:1 ratio.

While abroad, be careful when asking the waiter for a latte. In some countries, “latte” means the standard version with milk.

And sometimes, instead of a light three-layer version, you can get regular soluble powder diluted with regular ice cream.

Flat white

A rarer version with milk. It means double espresso, which is mixed with milk and a little foam, preheated using a cappuccino machine.

Flat white has a significant difference from a standard cappuccino or latte. It contains much less milk, and the foam is not so obvious and fluffy.

Allows you to experience the taste more deeply. Milk only slightly softens its shades.

Australia is considered the birthplace of Flat White. The ratio of coffee, milk and foam is 2:4:1.

Vietnamese

It is preferred by real sweet tooths. The preparation is simple and quick. Place 2-4 tablespoons of condensed milk into the bottom of the cup.

Finely ground coffee is brewed using the drip method. Sometimes ice is added to give it a more refreshing taste. The ratio with condensed milk is 1:1.

Viennese

Delicate with a noble aftertaste. It is a standard espresso served with whipped cream.

Sometimes, in order to soften the too tart taste of ground coffee, a little milk is also added to the cup. To add other shades to the cream, you can sprinkle with vanilla, lemon zest, finely grated chocolate or caramel.

Served in Austria, Germany, Poland. The ratio of espresso to cream changes. Most often 2:1.

Bombon

A Spanish drink served with condensed milk. The main difference with the Vietnamese version is that condensed milk is poured after the coffee is prepared, and not before.

In order for it to separate, condensed milk must be added slowly and literally along the wall of the cup. For an impressive serving, use a transparent glass with a thick bottom. To achieve the required taste, it is used in a 1:1 ratio.

Mocha, mochaccino

Latte lovers can treat themselves to its equally famous variety - mochaccino. The important thing here is not to confuse mocha coffee with a type of coffee bean.

Mochaccino is a latte with added chocolate. To prepare, you need to beat the milk and cocoa well. One shot of espresso is poured into the mixture. You can decorate with cinnamon, whipped cream, or nut or caramel based syrups.

Melange

Combines latte and cappuccino. Prepared in a 1:1 ratio with milk. To create a softer taste, milk foam prepared using a cappuccino machine is added on top.

Served in a large 240 ml cup. Distributed in Vienna and Venice.

Frappe

Gained popularity recently. This is a cold drink based on instant coffee. Served with fluffy foam. The recipe originates from Greece, where it was offered to visitors of cafes and restaurants in the summer heat.

Frappe is prepared not in the standard way in an espresso machine, but using a shaker. It contains 2-3 tablespoons of your favorite instant powder, the required amount of sugar and 50 ml of water. The shaker is shaken until foam forms.

The preparation is poured into a transparent cocktail glass, mixed with ice and cold water. Various syrups are often added to the composition. Fruits and berries are also used for decoration.

Raf

A drink recognizable thanks to the Starbucks chain. You can prepare Raf at home. It is a shot of espresso served with cream whipped using steam. Prepared in layers.

Add syrup to one, pour in a shot of espresso and cream over the side. Whipped cream with a small amount of foam is carefully distributed on top.

When serving, Raf is sprinkled with chocolate chips, cinnamon, and vanilla. For preparation, it is recommended to use fruit, berry or nut syrups.

Irish

As many gourmets joke, this is the only coffee that is better to drink not before, but after work. It is a fiery cocktail consisting of Irish whiskey and a shot of espresso.

Preparation occurs in the following order. A few pieces of sugar are dissolved in an espresso shot. Mix with your favorite whiskey in one cup. The top is covered with a cap of whipped milk.

Finely ground coffee is used for preparation. The ratio of espresso to whiskey is 2:1, but those who like it “hot” use a 2:2 ratio.

Coffee with cream and cinnamon

Coffee with cinnamon can be safely called a means for weight loss. It is known that cinnamon has a positive effect on metabolism, speeding it up. In turn, coffee can destroy fatty tissue. Coffee and cinnamon combined together thus turn into a real diet drink! To make the taste of this coffee softer, liquid cream is added, in addition to whipped cream.

— instant coffee – 1 teaspoon; - liquid cream - 1 teaspoon; - sugar - to taste; — cinnamon sticks – 1-2 pcs.; - whipped cream in a container; - chocolate syrup.

Cooking method:

All ingredients for cooking are prepared, so you can get started. So, first, choose a beautiful small cup and pour coffee into it (to taste, but it’s better to stick to the norm of 1 teaspoon), pour boiling water. Now you need to add a spoonful of delicious liquid cream of any fat content to the drink, but the fattier the cream, the thicker the coffee drink. And then a cinnamon stick is added. At this stage, you can add granulated sugar if desired. Squeeze whipped cream from the aerosol on top, which will add additional notes to the drink and decorate it. Next, add chocolate syrup as decoration. Coffee with cream and cinnamon is ready! This coffee can perfectly complement a holiday table due to its beautiful appearance and “sounds” harmoniously in combination with a piece of cake, pastries and other desserts. Thanks to its delicate creamy notes, this coffee is more suitable for lovers of a soft taste in the cappuccino or latte style. At the same time, cinnamon makes it more spicy and exotic. Drinking instant coffee with cream and cinnamon is not only pleasant, but also healthy. Enjoy!

Difference between Viennese coffee and con panna

Translated from Italian, con panna means “with cream”). In order to whip cream to stiff peaks without having a mixer at hand, you need to work hard. Therefore, in the 17th–18th centuries, only wealthy Italians could afford coffee con panna.

With the invention in the 20th century of coffee machines and electrical devices that made it possible to quickly whip cream into a stiff foam, con panna became much easier to prepare, and it appeared on the menu of even the most inexpensive establishments. But if in earlier times it did not matter how the coffee base was brewed, then from the mid-20th century to the present day the drink is made only with espresso. Even the term “espresso con panna” appeared.

Espresso con panna is easy to distinguish from Viennese coffee:

  • Viennese coffee is usually prepared using black coffee brewed in any way. Real con panna is made exclusively with espresso;
  • Viennese coffee cream is whipped to a smooth, elastic foam that you can drink while simultaneously tasting the coffee bitterness and delicate creamy sweetness in your mouth. Coffee con panna is decorated with a head of cream, whipped into stiff foam until it reaches stable peaks. Con panna should not be drunk with foam: it must first be eaten with a spoon and then washed down with coffee.
  • The Austrians call con panna Franciscaner. The fact is that Capuchins are a common nickname for monks from the Franciscan order. According to the logic of the Austrians, if Italian coffee with milk is cappuccino, then a more aristocratic drink with cream is Franciscan.

Espresso based

Espresso is considered a classic. In any cafe or restaurant around the world you will definitely find this item on the menu.

Depending on the intensity and number of servings of espresso, there are several variants depending on the ratio with water.

Ristretto

This is a tart and rich drink that is brewed from the same amount of coffee as a standard espresso. However, half the amount of water is added to it. Most often, the finest grinding raw materials are used for preparation.

The taste is very concentrated, not for everyone. The ratio with water is one to one. Prepared in quantities of 15 ml. Serve with a glass of cold water.

Espresso

Standard coffee, most often prepared using a carob or espresso machine.

A deep and rich taste is achieved through a long extraction process. During this time, a sufficient amount of essential oils gets into the cup. The drink contains a large amount of caffeine. Prepared in a 1:2 ratio with water.

Lungo

It tastes like Americano. Lungo is not diluted with water, but the entire 90 ml is passed through ground grains during the extraction process. The ratio with water is 1:4.

The taste is strong but deep.

Americano

To prepare, just make a classic espresso. Double is less commonly used.

Afterwards it is diluted with hot water depending on the strength that a person wants to achieve.

Caffe Crema

Distributed throughout Europe in the 50-70s. Now it can be found in coffee shops in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

When preparing, coarse grains are used. It is subjected to an extraction process with a large volume of water from 180 ml. The ratio of ground grains and water is 1:6.

Doppio

Double shot of espresso. The output is 60 ml of tart drink. Allows you to experience the depth of taste and pleasant aroma. Incredibly invigorating.

To prepare a double portion, finely ground grains are used. It is advisable to choose aromatic varieties of cocoa beans.

Romano

Espresso served with a slice of lemon. Acid is needed to treat the edges of the cup.

This is done so that the gourmet can feel the sweetness in contrast with the sourness.

Cuban

Cooking is impossible without using cane sugar.

To achieve the desired effect, dark roasting is necessary. For a standard cup, use a double layer of fine grinding from 13 to 15 g.

The extraction process is similar to making standard espresso. However, before cooking, you need to put 20-25 g of sugar in the cup in advance.

Hot coffee, entering the cup, quickly and intensively dissolves sugar, creating the effect of thickness and viscosity.

Zorro

The preparation is based on standard double espresso, which is diluted with hot water when serving in a 1:1 ratio.

Coffee with ice cream and cream

Do you like iced coffee? This is French coffee with ice cream. Then you'll love a slightly new twist on this creamy drink! Unusual, very “milky” and crazy tasty! Try making this drink, especially if you like soft, gentle, refined coffee with which you can start your morning.

Pour boiling water over the mixture and stir. Pour a little more than half a cup of water to leave room for other ingredients of coffee with cream and ice cream.

Add ice cream with a spoon, but do not stir, let the ball melt in the cup on its own. Do not use popsicles or frozen juice for this recipe, because we want to achieve the milky taste of the drink, otherwise it will turn out completely different. All that remains is to serve coffee and ice cream to the table. Don't forget about the addition to your drink. Suitable for coffee cookies, sweets, croissants, marshmallows, etc.

How to whip coffee creamer

So, you decided to treat yourself to creamy coffee with a bitter aftertaste. To do this, you need to prepare a key ingredient.

How to whip cream:

  1. You will need a dairy product with a fat content of at least 30%. It needs to be cooled.
  2. Take a metal container and place the cream in it.
  3. To make your task easier, it is recommended to use a mixer or blender. At first, the ingredient must be beaten slowly, gradually increasing the pace.
  4. When the mixture thickens, switch back to the minimum rotation speed. Usually the beating process does not exceed 3-4 minutes.
  5. To make the cream taste more delicate, mix it with powdered sugar.

It’s easy to determine the readiness of a component – just pay attention to its consistency and structure. It should resemble melted butter.

If you are using watery cream, then whipping it into a fluffy cream without adding gelatin will not work.

Coffee with Multivitamin juice and cream

This recipe came about impromptu, but, nevertheless, the finished coffee pleased me with its taste. For preparation, you can make fresh juice from orange, pineapple, tangerine yourself, but it’s easier, of course, to use ready-made nectar.

Cooking method:

First of all, we prepare coffee. Here you have what you like, but we follow the classics - in Turk. The finished coffee should be cooled. Then beat the cream with sugar. Of course, you can use a balloon, but the taste is not the same. Let the whipped cream cool slightly.

Let's start assembling the drink. First of all, pour half a cup of ready-made black coffee. Next, pour in the multivitamin nectar. You can mix the coffee with nectar properly, or you don’t have to mix it. Then comes the turn of the cream. Carefully place them on top of the coffee and juice. And now, in principle, the drink is ready.

Serve coffee with Multivitamin juice on the table, first garnishing with caramel. You can, of course, place pieces of fruit on top of the cream, but this is optional.

Enjoy your coffee!

Cappuccino

This cappuccino
Cappuccino is made from espresso and milk with a large foam of 2 cm .

For a 200 ml glass, take 1 serving of coffee, and for 300 ml and 400 ml you need two.

During preparation, first pour espresso, and then milk with foam to the brim. As some of the liquid mixes into a cinnamon color, the loosest foam is formed into a pattern.

To make the heart, the barista pours in some of the milk, mixes until brown, and then adds the rest with a sharp movement towards himself.

In cappuccino, the main thing is that the texture smoothly transitions from liquid to porous. Therefore, the milk is whipped for the longest time, gradually lowering the container.

Usually milk is taken with a fat content of 3.2%, because it froths well and gives optimal taste.
