How to make a delicious mochaccino at home?

The taste of mochaccino delights both coffee connoisseurs and those with a sweet tooth. It warms you up in cold winters and gives you coolness in hot summers. This drink is known all over the world. Its popularity is due to its extraordinary creamy taste and various cooking methods.

Varieties of mochaccino

There are different ways to prepare the drink, but the basis is the same.

American

The American recipe only calls for:

  • espresso brewed from the Mocha variety;
  • chocolate syrup;
  • whipped cream (for decoration).

European

European versions of the drink are numerous, because... baristas from these countries tend to experiment. The standard composition is:

  • strong coffee (not only Arabica varieties are allowed);
  • melted chocolate (chocolate syrup), cocoa;
  • milk (the volume of product in the drink is 2 times more than in the American recipe);
  • whipped cream;
  • various decorations (caramel, chopped nuts, etc.).

European mochaccino

The quantity and volume of ingredients are not strictly regulated, so the flavors of coffee and the options for its preparation vary.

How it appeared: a little history

In the states, the drink appeared thanks to particularly demanding visitors to bars and cafes who were not ready to drink too strong espresso. It was with their light hand that bartenders began adding whipped cream, milk and chocolate to the drink. The prototype cocktails of the modern mochaccino were decorated with chocolate chips and syrups. The Americans gave the name to the drink - mocha.

Mochaccino

The question of how cappuccino differs from mochaccino is simple to answer - the absence of cocoa powder or chocolate in the first place. Cappuccino is an Italian cocktail consisting of coffee, milk and milk foam, served in a warm porcelain cup, mainly at breakfast. Mochaccino is two-thirds espresso, the rest is milk and chocolate, cocoa, cream and additional components according to the recipe.

Calorie content and composition

The calorie content of the drink depends on:

  • amount of sugar;
  • fat content of milk;
  • volume of additional ingredients.

There is an average of 289 kcal per 100 g of coffee; a mochaccino made in a coffee maker contains about 250 kcal. If you prepare the drink yourself, the figure will rise to 350 kcal.

To reduce the calorie content of the drink, you should avoid adding cream and use skim milk.

Nutritional value of the product:

  • fats – 10.57 g;
  • carbohydrates – 46.42 g.

Alcoholic mocha - a mature pleasure for gourmets

You can prepare a cocktail with the addition of cognac or liqueur for a holiday or family celebration. A few drops of alcohol will add piquancy and brightness to the taste. The cocktail is mixed from espresso, cocoa, cream, sugar, nutmeg, salt and cognac (can be replaced with brandy or liqueur).

Alcoholic mocha

Start with cocoa mixed with sugar - the mixture is placed on the bottom of the glass. Espresso is brewed in a Turk with a little salt and nutmeg. Cool the coffee and mix with dry ingredients in a glass. At the final stage, add whipped cream and a few tablespoons of alcohol.

Main differences from other drinks

Not all lovers of sweet coffee drinks distinguish mochaccino from cappuccino, latte or mocha.

From latte

The difference between the drinks is the amount of coffee and chocolate added. In mochaccino the volume of these ingredients is greater. A classic latte contains well-frozen milk and a little coffee.

From cappuccino

These coffee recipes differ in the amount of milk added. In mochaccino its amount is 2 times greater. Additionally, the latter includes chocolate or syrup. Cappuccinos are rarely topped with whipped cream, but are sometimes topped with chopped nuts, cinnamon or chocolate chips.

Cappuccino

From mocha

Mocha is the type of coffee bean from which this drink was originally prepared. It is incorrect to call a finished product that way.

Additional Tips

It is not recommended to pour the ingredients in a thin stream, since the cocktail should have a multi-layered appearance. A knife with a wide blade, a silicone spatula or a spoon will help create distinct boundaries between elements.

Place the base of the tool against the edge of the vessel and slowly pour the liquid from a small height. Using a stencil and powder, you can create an unusual image by decorating the surface of a coffee drink with a pattern or inscription.

The wealth of recipes opens up space for creative experiments and allows coffee connoisseurs to enjoy the delicious taste of the cocktail.

Serving - subtleties for those initiated into the mystery of coffee art

Mochaccino coffee is served exclusively in tall glass glasses with a handle for cocktails. In some countries they are replaced with tall ceramic cups. The more layers are added, the more justified it becomes to use clear glassware to demonstrate latte art.

Simple versions of cocktails without designer tricks can be served in cups, but always with a dessert spoon, as required by etiquette. It is customary to offer marshmallows or unleavened cookies as a treat with a drink.

Mocha with cherry sorbet - a creative option

If an iced mochaccino seems banal, you can try replacing the ice with sorbet - a chilled mixture of fruit puree and syrup. To make mochaccino with cherry sorbet you will need:

  • cherry sorbet - 60 g;
  • pomegranate syrup - teaspoon;
  • espresso;
  • milk - 30 ml;
  • chocolate - 25 g;
  • coconut flakes.

The creation of a fruit and coffee masterpiece begins with placing the bottom layer in a glass - a ball of sorbet, poured with pomegranate syrup. Mix coffee, chocolate and milk in a blender bowl. The mixture is added to the glass on top of the sorbet and syrup. Decorate the cocktail with a straw and a lemon balm leaf.
