Scarlett coffee maker: how to use, all models, reviews

In the modern world, the pace of life is off the charts - each of us must be as focused and active as possible throughout the day. The best source of energy is hidden in the most visible place - a cup of strong, aromatic coffee in the morning provides the necessary reserve of strength both for a busy day at work and for an active weekend in nature.

If you don’t always have enough time to visit your favorite place on the way to work, there is a solution - a home coffee maker. This practical device does not take up much space in the kitchen and will prepare coffee faster than you can brush your teeth.

Preparing coffee: grinding and its features

Preparing a drink in a carob coffee maker requires proper grinding of the beans.
This is one of the most important parameters affecting the taste of coffee. Note! Pay attention to the grains before grinding. They must be fresh, roasted and dry

Wet beans produce a low quality drink. In case of accidental contact with water, dry the grains in the oven.

Coarse grinding with too large particles gives the drink a sour taste. Grinding that is too fine, in which the grains are reduced to almost the state of flour, is only suitable for drip coffee makers and Turkish coffee makers. It is better not to use it in a carob coffee maker.

Most often, medium grinding, with a particle size of about 1 mm, is used to prepare coffee in a carob machine. This size will not allow the grounds to seep through the filter and will saturate the coffee with a bright taste.

You should not grind grains in a hurry, since the device can cope with the task most effectively only with the same particle size. In order to achieve a uniform consistency, use an automatic coffee grinder with a choice of grain sizes.

So why isn’t it worth taking it?

Studying reviews of the Scarlett SC 037 carob coffee maker, you might think that the only nuances it has are a small volume of the water tank and, as a result, the resulting coffee, a short cord, no heating of cups or a carafe of coffee, and no auto-shutoff.

This is all true. But this is husk, and nitpicking (the cord is too short for everyone, cup heating and automatic shutdown are, by definition, at a different price), the main thing is different.

  • It smells like plastic. Not 100% of copies, but very, very many. Moreover, this stench does not go away for months.
  • The horn basket rusts over time. Especially if you neglect the strict rule, I cooked it and immediately took it apart, washed and dried it in disassembled form.
  • The plastic is unusually fragile, a measuring spoon, a flask lid - at the first light blow or fall (for example, a spoon on a tiled floor) - cracks or crumbles.
  • All inscriptions are erased in one fell swoop. Paint from the plastic behind them. It does not affect the cooking process, but the appearance is multiplied by 0.

Actually, it is naive to expect anything different from this Russian-Chinese brand, which has proven itself in specific ways. Everything is natural.

Plus, controversial issues indirectly related to quality, which most likely stem from the ingenious design of the model:

SL-CM53001

The Scarlett coffee maker that many users appreciate is the Scarlett “SL-CM53001” carob-type device. It is quite capable of awakening you with real Italian espresso, adding delicious foam. Thanks to the presence of a manual cappuccino maker, you can prepare the following types of coffee: cappuccino, latte, flat white and some others.

One of the nice things is stainless steel, which covers all parts exposed to water or steam, and the ability to choose the serving size. On the top of the coffee machine there is a flat (like a helicopter) platform. It will allow you to conveniently arrange cups, sugar or spices, which will always be at hand to create the most delicious drink.

The instruction manual looks very brief. The model contains a removable water container, so refilling it is quite easy. The settings are just a couple of knobs and an on/off button. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

SC-038

As for the operating rules, everything is very simple: one on/off button and your coffee is ready. Reading the reviews, you will notice that some people complain about the smell of plastic, but this problem can be easily solved if you monitor the amount of water. When it becomes insufficient, the heating element begins to give off heat to the internal parts of the machine. Simply fill the reservoir with water to the maximum level when you start the machine.

SC-037

Another horn-type model that you can pay attention to is Scarlett “SC-037”. It differs from the previous horn model in its compact size

She is a couple of centimeters taller, but 16 centimeters narrower. This is a significant difference. For those who are used to pampering themselves with one cup of coffee in the morning and one in the evening, such a device will be more than enough.

A feature that you should pay attention to when using the machine: when you froth milk for cappuccino, be sure to add water again. Otherwise, you won't get steam and you may damage the coffee maker.

The model is equipped with a removable drip compartment, which greatly simplifies maintenance and saves your time.

Of course, the three types that you learned about today are not all models, but we can say that these are the undisputed bestsellers. Some due to their cost, others due to a successful combination of quality, design and still the same price. The fact remains that the company's products are in demand and are almost always available in household appliance stores - if not right now, then on order.

The next video is a review of the Scarlett SC 1032 coffee maker.

SCARLETT SC-037 reviews

Pros: very good for the price

Comment: I like the cappuccino, the foam is excellent

Pros: Coffee brews quickly, no foreign odors.

Comment: For this price category this is an excellent item. It copes with its task.

Advantages: Easy to use, no unnecessary functions, tray and horn can be disassembled for washing, small dimensions, attractive appearance, cappuccino maker.

Comment: I like to make my own cappuccino with this coffee maker, fortunately it has a built-in cappuccino maker that froths the milk and makes a thick foam at the exit. The volume is enough for two people. There are no unnecessary modes, so I think it will last longer.

Advantages: Price compared to analogues.

Disadvantages: it is impossible to pour coffee without spilling from the carob flask, you need to open the lid

Comment: Practical coffee maker for the price

Cons: Smells a bit like plastic. The mode switch is a little inconvenient. If you miss and steam will come out of the nozzle, you can get burned

Comment: The coffee makes well, it’s strong, but unfortunately not hot (for me)

it turns out delicious! Only sometimes it splashes, but this is a matter of experience)))

Advantages: Compact, one-handle control, 2 operating modes.

Comment: Not noisy during operation. The cappuccino maker works great with milk without splashing even a drop. To do this, it is not at all necessary to raise and lower the cup; the edge of the nozzle should be on the surface of the milk and lightly capture air. You just need to pour more water so that there is enough steam for the foam.

Advantages: Simple controls, compact size.

Comment: For its low price, it produces no less tasty coffee than its expensive professional counterparts. The management was not difficult, they were able to figure it out right away. The coffee maker has a milk frother, which does its job perfectly. The cappuccino turns out excellent. The volume of the flask is enough for several servings at once; there is no need to load it several times. After use, everything is easy to clean; there is a special removable tray if a little coffee drips.

Advantages: Powerful, compact, removable drip tray, easy to maintain and operate.

Comment: The coffee maker is easy to use, I just boil water, turn it on to make coffee and it pours my favorite cappuccino into a cup. The capacity of the coffee pot is enough for two people, the coffee turns out thick and tasty. And after use it is easy to wash.

Advantages: + Cheap; + Brews coffee and froths cappuccino normally; + Looks normal, assembly is more or less good;

Disadvantages: – A little weak for real espresso; – Even on the twentieth run it stinks of plastic when heated, the coffee also smells a little; – Disgusting design in terms of use. At first, sticking a horn in there is more difficult than having sex for the first time. The mode selection wheel is illogical and inconvenient; – The instructions are crooked and unclear. The neutral position of the cappuccino maker remains a mystery. It seems that there is no such situation at all; – There are operating modes, but they are not calibrated. If you act strictly according to the instructions, fill half the container with cold water, and the coffee will have a consistency similar to a twice diluted Americano.

Comment: How to brew coffee: Pour water into a measuring container (no more than the upper mark for 4 cups), pour into the coffee maker, twist; Plug it into the outlet, turn the wheel to PAUSE mode so that the light comes on; Using a measuring spoon (plastic piece included), pour in coffee to taste, with the back of this spoon, bypassing the instructions, level and compact the coffee in the cone, twist it tightly (on the front panel it is marked where to insert and where to twist) and place the container; Wait until the water inside starts to boil normally (it will be audible), then turn the wheel to the cooking mode (cup icon), wait until it drains all the water and steam comes out of the horn; Turn the wheel to the off mode, the light should go out, and the remaining steam should start coming out of the cappuccino maker (turn it up if it doesn’t) and water should start dripping. Cappuccino: Pour in a little more water than indicated on the measuring flask (lower division with a steam symbol); Turn the wheel to cappuccino mode, wait until the cappuccino maker shoots out stagnant water, set the pause mode; Place a mug of milk (there should be less than half a mug), plunge the cappuccino maker into it almost to the very bottom and turn the wheel back to cappuccino mode, wait until the coffee turns into foam and the steam pressure weakens, turn the wheel to the off position and remove the mug. Always set the modes on the wheel clearly according to the mark on the body. In the off position, the remaining steam must escape. Unplug it from the outlet after use.

Disadvantages: Small volume of water tank. IMHO I cook for 2 large mugs at once, and I don’t have enough, I have to top it up.

Comment: In principle, it copes with its task. The coffee is “brewing”. The noise is normal, it doesn't whistle. After purchase, be sure to run it 2-3 times, it smells like plastic from the box. From experience I can say that such coffee makers last up to a year, no more. And if there is also a problem with the plumbing, and poor quality water, even less.

Advantages: inexpensive, coffee is much better than brewing it with boiling water in a cup.

Disadvantages: Small volume of water poured, if it is overheated, a plastic smell appears.

Comment: The coffee brews fine. after a year of use: Internal parts made of aluminum - stood for some time without use with residual water - the valve inside became sour. It’s my own fault, of course, but it doesn’t make for a good model.

Differences from closest competitors

Compared to Vitek VT-1511 / 1519 / Clatronic ES 3584: Scarlett has a better cappuccino maker, more intuitive controls, a nicer and more compact design, a double-bottom filter is more practical, but the boiler power is lower, which requires a little more time to warm up. Overall, Scarlett SL-CM53001 looks better.

In comparison with the Vitek VT-1513: the cappuccino maker and double-bottom filter are preferable to the Scarlett, but the Vitka has more intuitive controls for a beginner, because when switching to steam, it is supplied without additionally unscrewing the additional knob on the side; the 1513 Vitka has a multi-valve and an additional electronic logic that takes over everything. In general, this Vitek is generally better, but everything is spoiled by its too “hot” coffee thermostat, set to 110 degrees. Scarlett has little, here there is a lot, and which is better...

With Scarlett, like all other “horns”, you can use a trick: after turning on the coffee readiness lamp, turn on the steam preparation for 10-15 seconds, and, without turning on the steam, make coffee. But how to catch the moment on the 1513th, when it has not yet heated to 110 degrees. unclear.

Compared to the Vitek VT-1502: Well, the 1502 is the same as the 1511, but with a double-bottom filter, different controls, a better water tank and an even more powerful boiler. In principle, this does not solve everything. In fact, this is an analogue of the Scarlett described, but the latter has a better cappuccino maker.

In comparison with Vitek VT-1525 / Kitfort KT-702: of course, a completely different design, this is not for everyone. The Scarlett has a better filter, a cappuccino maker, a more convenient water tank, and relative to the Kitfort it also has an Italian pump, not a Chinese one. But there is no thermometer, the boiler is again weaker and there is no float in the drip tray.

In comparison with Polaris PCM 1515E / 1520AE / 1527E / Clatronic ES 3643 / Sinbo SCM-2944: Scarlett 53001 is generally a complete clone of all of the above, only in a different, narrower body with a smaller water tank and a main mode selection knob instead of three buttons.

Compared to Polaris PCM 1516E / 1526E: the same eggs, but with auto-dosing. In the sense that with these Polaris, by pressing the “1 espresso” and “2 espresso” buttons after dispensing the drink, the coffee maker itself stops the flow. In principle, after pressing a button, you can go to the toilet, for example.

In comparison with Polaris PCM 1517AE / 1524AE / Mystery MCB-5115: by and large, a complete analogue of this Scarlett in all respects, but there is one difference: the fastening of the group (where the horn is inserted) in these coffee makers is plastic, not metal, which is less reliable.

Characteristics

  • Availability of cheap models. Not all companies create coffee makers that are affordable to everyone. Due to the fact that plastic is used for the external decoration and some internal parts (for example, the coffee horn), the price of the device becomes more affordable.
  • Possibility to choose both carob and drip coffee makers. Not everyone likes it when coffee slowly fills a glass teapot and collects dust on the stand. Some people prefer to start the process themselves. It's good to have a choice.
  • Compactness. If you are content with a couple of cups of coffee a day, Scarlett's device will be more than enough for you. Of course, due to its small size, it is impossible to fill in a large amount of water, but miracles do not happen.
  • Ease of Management. Although the systems are not touch-sensitive, you can easily figure out how to use the device. As a rule, the device has no more than two handles and an on/off button. Light indicators let you know when the drink is ready, and heating systems always keep the coffee at the right temperature, automatically.
  • Classic colors. Black, steel and white are the three pillars of the color scheme on which the brand rests. This feature is good because the devices easily fit into any interior and do not hurt the eyes.

Secrets to getting a delicious drink from a drip coffee maker

The simple operating principle of a drip coffee maker was outlined earlier. Most often, such models do not imply an additional set of functions: maximum heating of the drink, power adjustment and that’s all.

Through trial and error, coffee lovers reached their Zen, understanding how to brew delicious coffee in a drip coffee maker:

  • slowly brewing the grounds with water;
  • using the right water;
  • selection of good coffee.

The result of well-selected ground grains and the ratio of the products used will be a tasty drink.

Principle of operation

The drip coffee maker has changed its design little since its invention, although, of course, it has acquired additional functions that make life easier for coffee lovers.

How does the device work?

  • The reservoir, which is most often located behind the device, is filled with water. The liquid then enters the boiler.
  • After this, the water in the tank is heated to 90-95 degrees Celsius and rises up the tube.
  • Slowly, drop by drop, the water passes through the filter containing the ground coffee powder and enters the lower compartment of the coffee maker.
  • You can judge the readiness of the coffee by how full the cup is: as soon as all the liquid has heated up and passed through the filter, your drink will be ready.

Important! You don't have to worry about the cleanliness of the cup, since all the grounds remain in the filter. A number of models have special functions that are also reflected in the operating principle of the machine:

A number of models have special functions that are also reflected in the operating principle of the machine:

  • The coffee maker may have a built-in coffee grinder. It is believed that the most delicious and aromatic coffee comes from those beans that are ground immediately before use.
  • Some devices are equipped with protection against possible overfilling, as well as a heating platform that allows you to constantly maintain the temperature of the drink.
  • Selecting the required number of mugs and the function of selecting the desired strength will help you brew coffee that will meet all your needs. Most of these coffee makers support two preparation modes: strong or “soft” taste.

In general, I agree with Nikolai (post dated 10/11/17). On my copy, the horn is made of high-quality food-grade duralumin, so in principle there cannot be any rye... The filter cup is stainless steel. In terms of design and principle of operation, this is actually a GEYSER coffee maker, which does not claim to be “related” to pump-action coffee makers (“they are only related” by the presence of the same horn, which, by the way, is much more convenient than the mutoristics with disassembling the same “Italians” to access the filter). She prepares drinks of no worse quality than the famous Bialetti geysers (there are both of them, but the “Italian” does not have a steam frother, which is why I often use the “Scarlett”). It’s impossible to make espresso on the one under discussion and on any other geyser because of the principle of operation. After all, these devices were not created for this..! People seemed to go crazy for espresso. It's as if there is no other coffee. Managing the process on Scarlett, of course, is not the most convenient. But for people who understand WHAT they are doing it is very attractive. By manipulating just one handle, we carry out all stages of the process - from receiving the drink itself to frothing the milk. Another thing is that the standard instructions are very unclear and do not in any way reveal the existing capabilities of this device, which will be discussed below. Now about the “spare parts” and other horror stories. This device is incredibly simple, and therefore there is practically nothing to break here. I took it apart “down to the last screw” out of pure curiosity. I will share the conclusions from the results of this disassembly. The boiler is protected from overheating by double thermal protection. At the first level, a bimetallic thermal switch of the heating element (heater) stands guard, which, having opened from overheating after cooling, restores the power circuit. In case of its failure (which is almost impossible), there is a non-recoverable (i.e. disposable) thermal fuse, which after tripping will simply need to be replaced (there are plenty on sale, it costs mere pennies). But to activate even the first level of protection, the user needs to work very hard, for example, by turning on the device, going to a bar to drink beer... During normal operation, the protection does not trigger. The boiler itself consists of two halves bolted together. There is a copper one installed at the bottom (!), i.e. a stainless heating element, which is very difficult to destroy (I’ve been trying every day for 4 years and can’t burn it...). Two tubes come out of the upper half: one is designed to remove steam to the frother (read “cappuccino maker”), and the second is for supplying water to the filter of the horn. The water supply tube reaches almost to the bottom of the lower half of the boiler, passing inside its body. Steam, creating pressure from above on the surface of the water, simply squeezes this water up this tube. Each tube fits strictly to its own valve. Both valves are combined into a single design and controlled by that same single handle. Moreover, the steam supply valve is ADJUSTABLE, which many simply do not realize. As the handle is turned COUNTERclockwise from the “OFF” position, the degree of its opening gradually increases, reaching a maximum in the extreme “Steam” position. By manipulating this, you can get VERY QUALITY milk foam without bringing the milk to the boiling point. It just takes practice. In addition, the initial degrees of opening of the steam valve (up to approximately half of the maximum) occur with the heating element OFF. This allows you to use the steam pressure accumulated during the preparation of the drink itself when frothing the milk. The valve mechanism works in conjunction with a limit switch, which in certain positions of the control knob turns on or off the heating element, which is indicated by a light indicator (red “eye”). And most users mistakenly think that the intensity of steam supply depends on the position of the foamer body. The ability to change the position of the “cappuccino maker” serves only for the convenience of its use. Based on all that has been said above, I offer people a technology for producing a delicious coffee drink with gorgeous milk foam (call it what you want: cappuccino, latte - it’s not in the name, but in the taste). =======Drink preparation technology============= 1. Pour water into the boiler. To the maximum. I fill until the filler neck openings overlap. 2. Remove the horn along with the filter and place some container (plate, cup, etc.) under the drain. 3. We turn on the device into the network, having first made sure that the control knob is in the OFF position (not according to the inscriptions, but according to the strictly vertical position of the pointer). Only in this position are both valves (water and steam) completely closed and the heating element is turned off. 4. Slowly turn the knob clockwise until the indicator light comes on. This is the notorious “Pause” mode, which is incomprehensible to many. In this position, all valves are completely closed, but the heating element is turned on. The water begins to heat up. 5. While the water heats up to the boiling point (at room temperature this takes about 2.5 minutes), charge our horn with a couple of dosage spoons of good, medium-ground coffee. Tamping (tempering) coffee is NOT NECESSARY AND HARMFUL. After all, this is a GEYSER coffee maker! But it’s worth leveling the surface! Let's make sure that a 300-350 gram glass with 50-70 ml has been standing in the coldest place of your refrigerator (not in the freezer!) for a long time. milk on the bottom. It is from this glass that you will drink the resulting drink. For ease of foaming, it will be better if this glass is shaped with some expansion towards the top. 6. So our water begins to boil, which will be warned by the suddenly disappearing hiss. For a short time (literally 1.5-2.5 seconds) open the water valve (clockwise all the way to the “Coffee” position and back), pouring the first small portion of water into a pre-installed container (see point 2). This will save your coffee from an unnecessary “cold shower”, because the water located in the very top part of the water tube is not yet heated enough). 7. Quickly install the filter horn (and coffee, of course) into the working position, install a container for draining the drink (I use the bottle included with the device: it’s still alive ;-). Turn on the “Coffee” mode, thereby opening the water valve. The steam generated at the top of the boiler through the open valve will squeeze hot water from the bottom of the boiler through the coffee grounds into your bottle. We are monitoring the process. When steam begins to be released along with parts of the drink, lovers of “soft” coffee can complete the process. The longer the portions with steam are poured into the container, the more bitter the drink will be. You will find YOUR taste with experience. We turn off the process by turning the knob to “OFF”. I just close the water valve, moving the handle to the “Pause” position, while the heating element continues to turn the remaining water into steam. 8. Set the container with the coffee aside. Cover with something to keep it warm while we make the foam. Lovers of “black” can begin the “ingestion” procedure. 9. Quickly take out a glass of chilled (MUST CHILLED!) milk. Open the steam valve for a short time (1-1.5 seconds) to release the initial, too wet portion of steam. We also quickly close the valve (OFF position). 10. And then. Then the “dance with a tambourine” begins to obtain foam. I do this: 10.1. A glass of chilled milk with a handle is placed on the finger of the left hand. The remaining fingers are pressed to the bottom of the glass. They control the temperature and at the same time maintain the glass in a position slightly inclined towards the body of the coffee maker. Raise the glass until the mouth of the cappuccino maker touches the surface of the milk. Slowly open the steam valve. By moving the glass up and down, we deliver steam to different layers of milk. With such low pressure, the foam is soft and light. 10.2. As we go, with our right hand we gradually add or reduce the steam pressure, without stopping the movements of the glass itself. We do all this with the heating element turned off, since there is still enough steam in the boiler after the preparation of the drink itself is completed. 10.3. We guess from hearing that the steam pressure is falling. Then we increase its generation for a short time, turning on the heating element and opening the steam valve “all the way” (the “Steam” mode - the knob is all the way COUNTERclockwise. Is there a lot of steam? Turn off the heating element again, leaving the valve slightly open. 10.4. Continue manipulations until the required consistency is obtained and foam volume. Don't worry! If you filled the boiler full, then you will have enough steam and there will still be some left! We control the temperature with our fingers at the bottom of the glass. As soon as it becomes impossible to tolerate, we stop the process. Otherwise, the milk will boil and get an unpleasant aftertaste. 11. The foam is ready . The handle is in the “OFF” position. The valves are closed. The heating element is turned off. 12. We remove the mug with foam to the side. 13. Slowly open the steam valve, releasing the remaining steam, without turning on the heating element. You can immediately remove the tip of the foamer and leave it to soak in water, and simply wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth or sponge. CAUTION! The wand is very hot! It’s just that if this is not done right away, the milk will stick to the wand and it will be a little harder to wipe off. 14. Slowly pour the finished coffee into a mug with foam. You can do it in a circle along the wall of the mug, or in the center. This determines how intensively the milk remaining under the foam will mix with the coffee. ALL! Bon appetit! PS It takes a long time to write a fairy tale, but it gets done quickly. On the third or fourth attempt, all these manipulations are performed “automatically.” The main thing is to understand WHAT you are doing. And further. I, too, in the second year of life of the coffee maker, the same plastic “shower” to which the horn is adjacent began to warp. As a result, steam began to gradually “siphon” from this place when coffee was spilled. So we live with this to this day. This does not affect the quality of the drink in any way. By the way, I saw a colleague have the same “shower” in metal design. Lucky man. I'll find time to come up with something made of metal. The hands seem to be growing from the right place. But to buy or not is the owner’s business. The device is working and very reliable. But... not an automatic machine. Therefore, you can fantasize with it endlessly, since all processes are in your hands.

How to cook vegetables in a steamer

  • Wash the vegetables thoroughly. Remove roots and peel if necessary.
  • The cooking time depends on the quantity, freshness and pre-treatment of the products. If necessary, the cooking time can be changed.
  • It is not recommended to defrost frozen vegetables first.
  • When cooking vegetables in the rice bowl, cover them with foil to prevent excess moisture from entering.

About the brand

In the first years, many considered the Scarlett brand to be English, since the trademark was registered in the UK. However, it belongs to Russia, and it was from this country that the market conquest began. The company quickly became popular, repeatedly received the “Brand of the Year” award and became the No. 1 brand in terms of product availability among the population.

Scarlett products are sold in Europe, the CIS and the Baltic countries, as well as throughout the post-Soviet space.

Scarlett coffee makers are manufactured in China using contract manufacturing techniques. That is, the factory slightly changes the design (not always), glues the badge of the desired brand and sends a batch of products to the customer. Therefore, different brands have models that look 95-100% the same.

Many Scarlett coffee makers are similar to Polaris equipment, and there are also complete clones, so when buying, you should look at two manufacturers at once and compare prices.

Scarlett coffee makers

The Scarlett company appeared on the Russian market back in 1996 as a brand of budget household appliances. Their coffee makers are in demand as very inexpensive and quite functional. Although they are not without their drawbacks, their price often becomes a more important factor, which is why they are purchased en masse. However, you should learn more about the features, pros and cons of Scarlett coffee makers in order to weigh the pros and cons of the purchase.

Range

The product line of Scarlett coffee makers is not very large, but there is still a choice. In the 2018-2020 season, mainly boilerless pump and filter coffee makers are presented, although there is also a classic carob coffee maker. We talk about the features of each model.

SC-037

Once the most budget-friendly boiler-free pump coffee maker on the market, many people had them. It looks like a carob, but at the same time has a jug, like a filter one, and prepares something similar to an Americano. Because this model cannot prepare real espresso, like a traditional carob, there is no pump and the necessary pressure. Without pressure, the water simply flows through the layer of ground coffee.

The quality depends on the batch, but the latter, judging by the reviews, are clearly losing:

  • Cheap flimsy plastic.
  • The smell of plastic that does not wash out for a long time.
  • The cappuccino maker is frankly weak, there is not enough pressure.

Risk: when turned off, it releases water and pressure through the cappuccino maker; you must remember to place a container for liquid and make sure that no one (especially children) waves their hands in this direction!

Price: from 2400 to 3500 rubles. You can still get it for 2000 at a promotion, in case you get lucky, but it’s still not worth it. It can only impress those who previously drank an instant drink and now switched to a filter.

The models are absolutely the same, the “five” only has slightly different plastic, but it’s the same thing. “Quartet” seems to have been discontinued, but is still available in many stores, so you may come across it too. Still the same carob-boiler version, although the quality is a little better than the previous solution.

  • The drink is not hot, but if you drink 1-2 servings with only water, without coffee, before brewing, the taste will be better.
  • There is no water level on the side, it uses the entire volume, that is, you need to refill it every time, measuring with a cup.
  • Powerful cappuccino maker! It creates high-quality foam, but you must first pour milk, lower the nozzle into the container, then turn it on and off the other way around. Otherwise, everything around may splatter heavily.

Price: for SC CM33004 - about 3000 rubles, for CM33005 - about 4000. You can buy it, especially as your first horn-less pump.

SL-CM53001

But this is a Scarlett carob coffee maker, and one of the cheapest models of this type on the market. The platform is similar to many Vitek and Polaris, although it has its own characteristics. Here the correct espresso is already prepared under the required pressure, you can experiment with grinding and tamping, and also froth milk for cappuccino or latte. At the same time, the coffee maker is very compact, only 16 cm, so in this regard Scarlett is superior to many competitors.

  • The power of the boiler is below average, the manufacturer claims 850 W, so it takes quite a long time to heat up. Capacity – about 140 ml, not much, but enough for a couple of servings.
  • The thermostat for coffee is 90 degrees, the drink will not be very hot, but in principle, it’s normal.
  • The cappuccino maker is decent, metal, with well-thought-out ergonomics, and whips well.

Price: 4.6–6.5 thousand in different stores. You can buy it for 5000, especially since this Scarlett coffee maker is usually cheaper than others in the 4-6000 ruble class, and they all serve approximately the same.

SC-038

Representative of the Scarlett class of drip coffee makers, basic model. Compact, without the taste of plastic, no more noisy than others. The volume of the jug, however, is small, only 600 ml, but enough for 2-3 people. The filter is reusable, no need to buy disposable ones.

Things to know:

  • The drink is not immediately hot, but there is no auto-shutoff, and the platform is heated. If you do not drink the coffee right away, it will heat up additionally.
  • There are a lot of good reviews on the Internet about the purchase and trouble-free use, but over time they are supplemented - buyers write that the device burned out after 2-3 months of use, for some even earlier.
  • The flasks beat quickly. Perhaps you should immediately take one spare when purchasing.

Price: it is the cost that many buyers note as the main advantage - in some retail outlets you can buy for only 1,300 rubles, on average for 1,600.

SC-CM33006

Also a compact drip coffee maker Scarlett. The power is slightly lower, but it is quieter, and the cooking speed is 30 seconds longer, which is not essential. Transparent water tank with a scale indicator for level control. Prepares 4-6 servings of drink, 600 ml jug.

  • Not the most successful assembly; elements can quickly become loose.
  • It brews frankly weak coffee, the taste and aroma are not extracted enough.
  • It's strange that there are practically no customer reviews about it.

The cost is approximately 1,300 rubles, but the model has already been discontinued, so it can only be found in some online stores. In principle, it is better to take another model.

SC-CM33007

The newest model of the Scarlet drip coffee maker, and quite adequate in terms of price and quality. These are sometimes bought for a small office, because a 1.25 liter coffee pot is enough for many people at once. The power has been increased slightly, so the drink is prepared quite quickly.

Characteristics and features:

  • It is convenient to measure water; there is a clear scale.
  • The mesh filter is reusable and easy to clean under the tap.
  • There is heating, so the coffee does not get cold, but only gets a little hotter.

Price: on average – 1600 rubles, but it can be cheaper and more expensive. For some reason it’s not very popular, the reviews are good, but there are no reviews on online shopping sites. You can buy it, especially since it is very inexpensive.

Are Scarlett coffee makers worth buying?

The Scarlett brand is frankly cheap from China, and when purchasing a coffee maker, it is important to immediately clarify where the nearest service center is, whether it will be possible to purchase additional components, and what the conditions for return or replacement are. The service is not very good; there are often complaints that the coffee maker was taken away for repairs for 2-3 months, and after a while it broke down again.

In general, Scarlet coffee makers are cheaper than their competitors, so people often buy them to try. If your budget is limited or you like filter coffee, this makes sense, but if you can add 2-3 thousand, and instead of a pumpless one, take a carob, which you will use for a long time and brew high-quality espresso, it might be worth thinking about it.

Review output

Even if the “Chinese quality roulette” played in your favor, the Scarlet SC-037 coffee maker will not produce qualitatively different coffee than any drip coffee, which even now costs from 1000 rubles. A typical situation - SC-037 makes an impression on those coffee lovers who drank instant coffee before it.

Among boiler-less pump classmates, you should look towards the Delonghi EC 5/7. Yes, it’s more expensive, but the result is decent, and “over the long haul.” If you understand what classic espresso should really be, then it’s better to immediately switch to pump coffee makers, starting with Delonghi ECP 31.21/33.21 or Philips Saeco Poemia/Gaggia Gran.

And if the purchase budget is strictly limited to 3,000 rubles, which you were going to use to buy this Scarlet, then I recommend spending it on a high-quality geyser coffee maker, and buying good coffee with the change.
