Latte fans: how to make your favorite drink healthier

Several decades have passed since the first latte was made. And, although latte is more of a milk drink than a coffee drink, it has won the preferences of many coffee connoisseurs. Typically, a latte is served in an Irish glass or a tall transparent glass with a straw and a long spoon. Today there are more than ten variants of this drink. Let's look at the most popular types of latte coffee.

To get a new taste, the classic recipe is replaced with a double portion of coffee and various additives are added. Latte can be caramel, pumpkin, vanilla, nut, cinnamon, syrup.

Latte macchiato

To prepare a latte macchiato, the same ingredients are used as for a classic latte. Coffee is brewed and milk is frothed using the same method. First, milk is poured into a glass for Irish coffee, and then black coffee is slowly added in a thin stream.

The presentation of the latte reflects the very meaning of the word macchiato – “stained”. Since the specific density of coffee is less, the drink stratifies: the milk ends up at the bottom of the glass, the coffee in the middle, and on top there is voluminous snow-white foam with that same spot.

You can easily distinguish latte macchiato from other types using the characteristic three layers. And although the classic macchiato serves three layers, you can mix them and drink through a straw.

Coffee Latte - how to brew correctly

The process of making a latte is very simple!

Important: to form an airy, light foam, the milk must be natural, high-fat and warm.

  • The milk needs to be heated (but not boiled!). Then beat for at least 3-5 minutes in a blender to get a soft foam;
  • Meanwhile, prepare strong espresso;
  • The bottom layer must be coffee. If milk is poured into the glass first, you will get a completely different recipe - macchiato;
  • Therefore, after pouring in the frothed milk, pour in the coffee in a thin stream near the wall. If everything was done correctly and carefully, the transparent glass will show layers of coffee, milk and a lot of foam.

Latte itself refers to the steamed milk used in the drink. The milk is steamed and lightly frothed to create a delicious foam. It helps soften the intense flavor of espresso. The ratio of milk and espresso is 3/1 .

If you are using a coffee machine, the foam is created using a steam wand. It blows hot air through the milk, giving it a creamy but smooth base.

You can also take an Irish glass for serving. When pouring milk, it is also recommended to use a spoon. It can be used to hold the foam until the mug is more than ¾ . You can add a little more foam on top of the drink. Your Latte is ready! Drink and enjoy!

Ice latte

Ice latte is the most popular cocktail among the varieties of latte coffee for drinking during the hot season. To create this type of coffee you will need a special device - a shaker. Not every home has one, but once you buy one, you can make and enjoy iced lattes all summer long.

The preparation method is quite simple: fill one-fourth of the shaker with ice, prepare espresso separately in a Turk or coffee maker and pour it into the shaker, where after pour in 150 ml of milk and 20 ml of vanilla syrup. Shake the shaker and continue until the ice cubes are completely dissolved. Ice latte is ready, enjoy your drink!

Invigorating espresso or cozy lavender latte? Coffee Break edt Maison Martin Margiela

The idea that lies on the surface is to connect memories with aroma. After all, many people have perfumes with which they associate certain bright moments in life. The Replica line from Maison Margiela is just about this. All fragrances from it are inspired by some memory, place, event that is indicated on the packaging. All of them are not straightforward olfactory tracings, but rather fantasies on the theme. There is an elusive similarity in all of them, as if a flair of time through which we see the past. They are all about coziness, comfort and, above all, about themselves.

Today I want to talk about one of these fragrances - Coffee Break edt Maison Martin Margiela.

I have a bottle in travel format, 10 ml, spray, and the full-size one looks like this:

So what place is this fragrance associated with according to the author’s idea? On the label we see: “Stockholm, 2007/Creamy and cozy coffee.”

This is a unisex fragrance and was released in 2022. Perfumer: Jacques Cavalier.

Top notes: Orange blossom, Pepper and Patchouli

Middle notes: Lavender, Coffee, Milk, Tonka Bean, Siamese Benzoin and Nagarmotha

Base notes: Vanilla, Cedar and Vetiver.

It can safely be classified as both a fougere and a gourmand scent.

I must admit, I’m not a fan of the smell and taste of coffee, but the stated notes of lavender won me over and I decided to try this perfume. And I was right.

The perfume starts out very unexpectedly. Imagine: you enter a coffee shop located in a fairly large office center in the middle of lunch. And the first aroma that greets you here is, surprisingly, not the aroma of coffee at all... This coffee shop is full of freshly shaved and smoothly combed men in business suits, discussing some work issues on the phone or with each other, and the air is literally filled with a fougere aroma for and after shaving: invigorating citruses and cool lavender. Yes, there's definitely something in their little cups, but is it just espresso foam or shaving foam? Well, of course it’s coffee and that’s what you came here for. But not for the bitter and awakening, no, you want something cozy. And you order a vanilla lavender latte with a small square of dark chocolate. And you literally dissolve in this warming and relaxing drink with fluffy milk foam, you completely forget about the men with clean-shaven faces rushing somewhere, you are completely immersed in yourself and enjoy the sweetish lactone notes of coffee with a slight bitterness of lavender.

Latte with syrup

Varieties of coffee latte with syrups intended for making coffee are incredibly loved by those with a sweet tooth. A variety of sweet additives allows you to choose a drink to suit every taste and mood of the client. Approximately 20 grams of syrup is added to black coffee and then the milk-foam mixture is poured into it.

It should be remembered that fruit syrups affect milk, and it can turn sour in a few seconds. That is why it is recommended to abandon berry, citrus and fruit syrups, and give preference to vanilla, chocolate or almond syrup.

Coffee with mint

Mint invigorates and gives freshness, which we so often lack in the morning. Just by smelling the bright smell of mint, you will wake up much faster than if you just brew yourself a mug of instant coffee. To combine the pleasant effect of both ingredients, simply add a little mint syrup and, of course, fresh mint to your regular drink, since it contains all the vitamins and the awakening effect.

Ingredients:

  • fresh mint,
  • mint syrup,
  • 2 teaspoons of coffee,
  • sugar,
  • water.

Preparation:

  • While the coffee is preparing, add a little mint syrup to it, stir and bring to readiness.
  • Add sugar to taste and garnish the drink with a fresh mint leaf.

Walnut

To create one serving of the drink, take: 30 g of roasted hazelnuts, a teaspoon of condensed milk and finely ground coffee, half a glass of water and half a glass of milk.

The sequence for preparing a nut latte is as follows:

  • Grind the nuts using a blender, leaving a few to decorate the drink.
  • Mix milk, condensed milk, nuts in a saucepan and place it on the stove,
  • Bring the mixture to a boil and pour it into a latte glass.
  • Brew coffee the classic way and add it to the mixture,
  • Garnish the resulting cocktail with hazelnuts and enjoy the pleasant taste. It's especially nice to drink a hazelnut latte through a straw.

Coffee with nuts

Coffee is already good, but combined with nuts it’s simply amazing. Not only do you get the necessary fats, but the taste becomes more refined and deeper. If you're used to using nuts as snacks, then just save a small handful for breakfast, and that's all the effort you'll need, by the way.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 tbsp. nuts (hazelnuts or walnuts),
  • 2 teaspoons of coffee,
  • sugar,
  • water.

Preparation:

  • Let the coffee brew. Meanwhile, chop the nuts with a knife or coffee grinder.
  • Add nuts directly to the coffee being prepared and stir. Once ready, let it brew, add sugar and serve.

Autumn recipe

An autumn recipe, namely pumpkin latte, is considered its most unusual type. It is often prepared at Halloween parties. And if you remember that pumpkin, in addition to its pleasant taste, has many substances important for the body, and is also used in medicine to treat diseases, such a drink will be useful for all coffee lovers. It’s so nice to enjoy a tasty and healthy drink on cold autumn evenings, right?

Classic recipe for servings for one person

I think you have learned how to make latte coffee at home.

  • 1/2 cups of strong espresso
  • 3/4 glasses of whole milk
  • pinch of cinnamon

On top of the lush foam, the drink can also be decorated with chocolate, spices or topped with a sweet topping.

The latest addition to the regular American latte is “art art.” Experienced baristas use foam to create interesting designs or designs, such as a heart or a flower.

Some also use a stencil to sprinkle cinnamon or cocoa powder for an artistic touch. While others use foam to create masterpieces. In well-equipped coffee shops, a specialized machine can print images onto the foam. But, at the same time using coffee extract as a paint.
