Rating 2021-2022 of the best ground coffee Paulig (Paulig) according to customer reviews: which ground coffee is better to buy, how to choose the right one, price comparison, buy in a reliable online store in your city.
A little history
Paulig is a recognized expert in the field of coffee with more than 135 years of history. Paulig coffee is European quality, experience and tradition of producing premium coffee since 1876, guaranteeing a refined and harmonious taste in every cup. Today the Paulig Presidentti line includes three blends: Paulig Presidentti Original, Paulig Presidentti Gold Label and Paulig Presidentti Black Label.
Paulig first began producing the Paulig Presidentti in 1929. It was then that, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the roasting shop, a mixture of the highest quality 100% Arabica beans “Presidentti” (No. 26) was added to the range. More than 80 years have passed since then, and Paulig Presidentti remains one of the most beloved and sought-after products among natural coffee connoisseurs.
In the summer of 2013, the legendary Paulig Presidentti coffee blend was rebranded in Russia, and in the fall of the same year two new premium products will appear on store shelves: Paulig Presidentti Gold Label and Paulig Presidentti Black Label.
Bertha Paulig and her contribution to the company
In nineteen hundred and seven, Gustav died, and his wife took the helm of the family enterprise. Bertha Paulig had the same entrepreneurial spirit as her late husband. She opened a number of pastry shops throughout Helsinki, where you could not only drink ready-made Paulig coffee with delicious pastries, but also buy beans.
In addition, Mrs. Paulig established the sale of mixtures. Previously, you could buy either Arabica - a cultivated variety of coffee with an exquisite taste, or its cheap brother - Robusta, which gave the drink strength. Mrs. Paulig presented two new products to the public.
Raw materials used
Paulig has many advantages. The main strength of the brand is the quality of raw materials. Paulig coffee beans stand out from competitors in the market for a number of reasons:
- Paulig only uses certified raw materials. This means that they pay more taxes and the final product is more expensive, but the end consumer can be sure that the brand’s coffee is safe for consumption. In addition, by purchasing certified beans, Paulig is fighting against illegal coffee plantations that use slave labor and do not comply with sanitary standards.
- Paulig is an international company, and it confirms the quality of its raw materials with special “social responsibility” checks. A special commission checks how much the brand invests in quality, ecology and respect for workers' rights beyond the norms established by law.
- Paulig purchases raw materials from the largest coffee-supplying countries: Brazil and Colombia. All suppliers are checked, and exports amount to at least 50 million kilograms per year.
- Paulig fights monopolistic giant coffee beans and sources its raw materials from family farms. These plantations undergo the same checks as the giant suppliers, but by purchasing coffee from them, Paulig receives a higher quality product (since the production volume is smaller, the coffee trees are better monitored). The company also supports small businesses.
Why is Paulig coffee interesting?
What allows a family firm to have an annual turnover of seven hundred million euros? Why did the Paulig enterprise become the second largest company in terms of sales in Russia? Firstly, the consistently high quality of coffee. Secondly, this is the amazing variety of its varieties. Thirdly, care for the consumer.
For a person who is not a professional barista, it is important to get a tasty drink with as little effort as possible.
And Paulig coffee is simply a godsend in this regard. On the packaging of the product you can read what varieties it consists of, what is the degree of roasting and grinding. Do you like to brew coffee in a cezve? No questions! The “Turkish Coffee” brand is sold specifically for this method of preparation.
With sourness, bitterness, invigorating or for the evening, with chocolate flavor or created specifically to drink with cream - we always have what you need.

Noteworthy facts
The emblem of the Paulig company was the smiling woman Paula, whose image in a state suit decorated packs of branded coffee from the 20s to the 80s. There is a domestic story according to which Gustav Paulig really liked the woman and really liked her. A portrait of Paula pouring coffee from a copper pot appeared on marketing posters and packaging in 1926. And at the moment, an annual competition is held among the company’s employees: the most beautiful one receives the right to bear the title of the Paulig girl - Paula.
83% of Finns love coffee, 88% of them drink it once a day, 85% choose Paulig.
Until 1929, the company produced coffee under numbers; they did not have titles. The first names appeared when the grain processing factory turned 25 years old: Juhla and President became the predecessors of the modern Mokka and Presidentti.
Until 1931, the company sold coffee exclusively in beans; the idea to offer customers ground coffee belonged to Bertha. At the same time, at Eduard’s suggestion, the production date began to be indicated on the packaging - the first in Europe. There is no instant coffee in the brand’s assortment; this is the company’s principled position. All varieties of Paulig are of two types - beans and ground, not counting Cupsolo intended for coffee machines.
The modern logo and slogan: “Discover the best taste” appeared in 2012 as a reflection of the universal passion for excellent coffee, delicious food and a vibrant, rich life. The idea was developed by the company's marketing bureau.

- Brazil;
- Costa Rica;
- Nicaragua;
- Kenya;

For various devices - coffee machines, French presses, drip and geyser coffee makers, the manufacturer grinds differently - fine, extra fine, medium, coarse.
Methods for preparing the drink
Paulig coffee is the second most popular drink brand in Russia. This is probably why the consumer wants to know everything about this company. The packaging indicates that the product was made in Finland. Of course, it would be foolish to think that coffee beans grow under the northern sun of Scandinavia.
Of course, they are exported from southern countries. But experts will tell you that the taste of a cup of coffee is influenced by three factors:
- A blend of expertly selected varieties.
- Roasting.
- Grinding
There are several ways to prepare the drink - in a cezve, French press, espresso machine or even just in a cup. And brewing coffee also directly depends on the three above-mentioned methods of processing the beans. When purchasing a product, the consumer can be sure that he will receive exactly the drink that he needs. What if a coffee lover wants to experiment? Then he can buy whole grains.
Tribute to tradition
The coffee world is growing at a fast pace: 83% of Finns drink coffee, 88% of them do it once a day. Traditions are becoming a thing of the past, giving way to modern trends and trends. One thing remains constant: quality first.
After a journey of 140 years, the small shop transformed into the international concern Paulig Group, where the flagship of coffee production is Gustav Paulig Ltd. From 2006 to 2011, three more enterprises were opened, including in Russia. Paulig has always been and remains a supporter of new thoughts and innovations, she strives to expand the range of products, taking into account the needs of customers, developing new technologies and production methods and, always, adheres to the fundamental idea of delivering products of the best quality.
In 2012, the company introduced a new corporate identity, which is based on principles and values. A new logo was introduced, the slogan of which is “Discovering the best taste.” This emphasizes all the work and efforts of the company's employees, conveys the love for the rich taste of coffee, wonderful food and spices that will not leave anyone indifferent.
Reviews
Customers' opinions about the drink are rather positive, although different brand products receive ratings from 3.5 to 4.7 - so on average it comes out to about 4/5. There are complaints about both the quality of the grain and the strength of the drink. In addition, these are different productions - Finnish and Russian.
“Normal coffee for the price, we gave this to everyone at work, everyone seemed to like it, and so did I. No better and no worse than analogues in this price segment. It’s especially good with milk and sugar, but sometimes I drink black too.” – Olga, Nizhny Novgorod
“This is not coffee at all, the only thing it’s good for is a scrub. It brews poorly, the grounds float, it’s kind of cloudy. I don’t know, maybe I got a fake, but it didn’t suit me at all. I won’t buy again!” – Anna, Pskov
“The Finnish quality is immediately obvious: a few years ago we first brought Paulig coffee from Finland, and we were hooked! Fragrant, strong, tasty - everything is as it should be! We brew for the whole family in the morning, and I drink another cup throughout the day! I can recommend it to everyone!” – Alya, St. Petersburg
In general, if you choose budget coffee, you can try this brand. You may discover something new or appreciate a new variety that you like. Prices in online stores can vary quite significantly, so when ordering, don’t be lazy to look for promotions and choose the best offer.
New victories
The company grew and developed quickly, Paulig was considered a professional in the coffee industry. Quality, as before, was the most important thing. Quite by chance, the company got a sign. In 1950, Edward's son, Henrik Paulig, brought a lady named Paula from America. She appeared at all company events and presentations and very quickly captured the title of “Face of the Company.” Later she became the personification of the Paulig coffee drink, pouring it from a copper coffee pot in a suit from the Saesmeki region.
Since 1968, the establishment was moved to the modern large district of Vussaari. The opening ceremony was held very magnificently in the presence of Finnish President Kekkonen.
Henrik Paulig brought back from his own trip not only Paula, but also a huge number of other fascinating thoughts. For example, organize a consumer support service, or, in modern terms, a hotline. Customers were consulted by telephone and mail, collections of recipes were created, and topic-specific meetings were held where people became acquainted with Paulig products.
10 years later, the company takes another big step in development - the Coffee Institute is opened, which is still in operation today.
This was made with the aim of more thoroughly studying coffee, its culture, and conducting trainings from experts. At this time, new roasting and packaging technologies are being introduced. The company acquires the English coffee company Appleton Machin Smiles Ltd and renames it Paulig UK Ltd.
The decline of the 20th century for the company was marked by globalization and internationalization. The Vuosaari area has become a large modern area with developed infrastructure. In the Baltic countries, the company renewed old ties, and in 1993 a new Paulig enterprise opened in Tallinn.
