About the brand
The history of Paulig coffee began in 1876. At this time, a young but promising entrepreneur arrives from Germany to Helsinki. He advertises in the local newspaper for the sale of colonial goods with delivery. Colonial goods included coffee, salt, spices, and alcoholic beverages. Enthusiasm and the so-called commercial spirit quickly made Gustav Paulig one of the leaders in the food market of the capital of Finland.
Soon the main emphasis was placed on selling coffee, not green, as was the case before, but roasted in our own workshop. Another breakthrough in trade was the offer of coffee beans in small packages of 250 and even 100 grams. Gustav Paulig was one of the first to understand the significance of the logo and began to print the Latin letter P on each of his products, implying guaranteed high quality.
In addition to the importance of the concept of a trademark, Gustav regularly held advertising campaigns, offered the buyer new coffee blends, and soon became one of the most recognizable businessmen in the country. After his death, the business was run by his wife and son. To this day, Paulig coffee remains a family company with huge markets.
In 1929, the company, in honor of its anniversary, released two new products - Juhla and Presidentti. These are mixtures of coffee beans developed by specialists, which have become prototypes of modern brands - Juhla Mocha and President. A few years later, another new product appeared on the market - ground coffee. The packaging of such goods always indicated the date of production so that the buyer could be sure of its freshness.
Another unusual technique in expanding the business was organizing communication with consumers. Specially trained managers held meetings, master classes, wrote collections of recipes, and so on. This approach allowed us to expand the circle of fans of the brand’s products and establish reliable and long-lasting cooperation with them.
The manufacturer increased its capacity, opened new roasting shops and offices. The stage of developing new markets has begun. Today Paulig coffee is the market leader in the Baltic countries and one of the leading suppliers of coffee to the CIS countries. His enterprises are open in the Tver region and St. Petersburg. The management of the international concern is constantly improving the system of communication with clients and is actively developing in many directions. A fifth of all coffee production is supplied to the CIS countries, including Russia.
Raw materials and production
The company takes a responsible approach to purchasing raw materials and participates in international programs to help farmers. On their website, they state that by the end of 2022, all bean purchases will be either through partnership programs or from certified farms. By improving agricultural practices and helping farmers improve their quality of life and work, high-quality beans can be produced.
The company takes a responsible approach to the purchase of raw materials. Paulig coffee is supplied to Russia from two production facilities - one is located in Helsinki, the other in the Tver region, the factory is indicated in the code on the packaging.
Range
At the formation stage, the Paulig company traded green coffee beans. These were both single varieties and mixtures, which were produced under numbers for convenience. Further, grain coffee acquired names and a new “face”: it became roasted and even ground. Today, the brand’s assortment includes the following product names, which we list below.

Robert Paulig can perfectly invigorate you in the morning or after a hard day at work, giving you strength and energy. It is preferred by most for its delicate aroma and pleasant aftertaste. There is also a second type, stronger, which is considered sharper, but nevertheless is in high demand among gourmets.
Black Label and Presidentti Gold are a luxury line made from elite coffee beans that have undergone strict quality control. Brewed coffee has a thick, strong taste and a slight bitterness. The aroma alone can awaken and lift your spirits on a cloudy day.

Types of coffee: ground and beans
Colombian beans have a unique aroma, which is obtained due to the warm and fairly humid climate, as a result of which the beans acquire soft sourness and tones of fruity characteristics.
For brands that are aimed at a feeling of vigor, the company purchases robusta from Vietnam, because their beans have a high caffeine content.
Each type of coffee is highly individual and unique in its taste, because it is the Paulig company that approaches the selection of coffee beans as competently and at the highest level.
The Paulig product line is very wide and the range of coffee drinks is quite large, for example:
- Classic.

Reviews
Katya: “For many years I preferred Paulig from the Classic series. I liked the softness of this drink, the subtle, unobtrusive aroma, and the cheerfulness that it gave me. I recently tried capsule espresso and cappuccino and realized that this is real coffee. It has such a bright aroma and a very rich taste. I don't think it's just the coffee machine. The product itself is very good."
Anna: “The brand is proven, familiar to many, reliable, but its products are mediocre, not to my taste.”
Ksenia: “President is a good, and most importantly, budget product. I like it as a sleepy morning drink that helps me wake up and get ready for work.”
Inessa: “I tried almost the entire line of Paulig products. I can say that the quality of the whole grains is good, they are evenly roasted, not overcooked, and smell good. The drink made from them is foamy, quite aromatic, but it is not strong enough. But the ground coffee is so-so. There is no zest in it, nothing that can catch your attention and due to which it can become a leader among other jars and bags. My opinion: if you buy, then only Paulig in grains; ground cannot compare with it.”
